Themes and colors
Classic colors, 26 full themes, custom inks, and spectrum-painted stacks.
Every note remembers its own look. These settings live in the note settings panel , in the color row.
Classic colors
Seven classics: Yellow, Blue, Pink, Green, Gray, Lavender, Cream. These adapt automatically between light and dark mode. At the end of the row sits a custom well wearing a small palette; it opens a full color picker, and once you pick a color the well wears that color instead. Notel derives a matching paper, border, and ink from whatever you choose. You can also override the text color on its own, with a one-click way back to the theme’s default.
Themes
Themes are not a separate tab. Open the custom well at the end of the color row and the picker that appears carries its own Custom / Themes switch along the top. Flip it to Themes for the full collection of 26.
The collection is Nord, Unicorn 1, Unicorn 2, Matrix, Dracula, Tokyo Night, Rosé Pine, Forest, White on Black, Amber CRT, Sakura, Galaxy, Cyberpunk, Porcelain, Matcha, Espresso, Blood Moon, Blueprint, Acid, Copper Patina, Glacier, Lavander Town, Riso Press, Mossfire, Limoncello, and Biolume.
Themes are complete designs, not just colors. Five of them (Nord, Unicorn 1, Unicorn 2, Forest, and Riso Press) ink the text across a rainbow, and Biolume draws a glowing outline. Themes keep their authored look in both light and dark mode.
Hover a theme in the list and a small minus lets you hide it from the picker; once anything is hidden, Reset themes appears at the bottom and brings them all back. Settings → Advanced → Design carries the toggle Include themed notes in random note color picker, which decides whether themed looks can turn up when a new note gets a random color. It ships off.
Default look for new notes
Settings → Note Design sets what a brand-new note wears: default color or theme, font, text size, opacity, and title-bar style. The preview note there is also the size control: drag its corner and every new note from then on opens at those dimensions.
Painting a stack
Right-click the title bar of any note in a stack and open Color Notes:
- Unique Colors… gives every note in the stack its own color.
- Spectrum… takes one hue and runs it down the pile in graded shades, palest at the top and deepening toward the bottom. Pick the hue from the seven classics, or choose Random and let Notel draw one.
- Same Color… unifies the pile.
