Fan, Library, Spring, Stacks, Peek: what each one means.
Five words that appear throughout Notel’s menus.
Fan
The Fan shows previews of every note in a row. Scroll with your cursor over the Fan to move through them, click a card to open that note, or start typing while the Fan is open: your words land at the bottom of whichever note is centered. Open it with ⌥F, from Fan View in the menu bar, or by double-tapping Option (Settings lets you pick a different key to double-tap).
Library
The Library is the full overview: every note at once, as cards or as a list, with search, folders, and sorting.
Spring
The Spring is where collapsed notes and stacks wait: a column of bubbles rising out of a bottom corner of your screen. Click one to open that note. It is on out of the box, it can sit in either bottom corner, and it can stay hidden until your cursor visits (“Show Spring on Mouseover” in Settings).
Stacks
Drag one note onto another and they snap into a stack: a pile that moves together. The stack has its own controls: a More menu for stack options (sorting, coloring the whole pile as a spectrum, gluing it to the desktop, saving it as a folder), a collapse control that folds the pile into a single bubble, and a close control that asks whether to close the stack or unstack the notes back onto your desktop.
Peek
Peek fades a chosen note in and out over whatever you are doing, with a keystroke (⌥` by default). Notel comes forward as the note arrives, so if that note lives on another Space, macOS takes you there with it.
