Moving, resizing, and collapsing notes
Moving a note
Drag a note by its title bar or by the empty margins beside the text. The whole left margin is a grab strip; the right one is a little narrower on purpose, so that highlighting to the end of a line stops short of picking the window up. There is no strip along the bottom. Scroll far enough that the title leaves the top of the note and a strip appears up there to drag by instead.
The resize circle
Hover near a note’s bottom-right corner and a small dot fades in. Drag it to resize; the top edge stays put, so the note grows and shrinks downward.
The corner has two more uses:
- Drag the corner all the way up into the title bar and the note collapses into just its title bar. Grab a collapsed note’s corner and it springs back open as you drag.
- Right-click the circle for the arrange menu: Stack Open Notes, Arrange Visible Notes, Restore Previous Layout, and Save Current Layout…
Collapsing
- Double-click the title bar (beside the title, not on the text itself) and the note folds into its title bar. A single click expands it again. Double-clicking the title text renames instead. Notes sitting in a stack sit this one out, because the stack does its own collapsing.
- The Collapse chip in the hover rail tucks the note away as a bubble in the Spring instead. More on that in Stacks, the Spring, and the Fan.
Right-click the title bar
The title bar has its own menu: Rename…, a Title Bar submenu (show or hide the title and divider, pin the title, set its alignment, and pick from eight close-button styles), plus Favorite , Set Reminder… , and Lock Note . On a stacked note the title is stack context rather than a rename surface, so Rename… steps aside and the stack tools take its place: Save as Folder… (offered only when no existing folder already holds exactly that set of notes), Color Notes (including painting the whole pile as a spectrum), Remove from Stack, and Unstack Notes.
Right-click the body
Right-clicking the body of a note opens the note settings panel, the same one the sliders button opens: color and themes, text and opacity, the insert carousel, and the window behaviors Glue to Desktop, Float on Top, and Show on All Desktops. Note Info in that panel shows the note’s folder, storage use, attachments, and word counts. Right-clicking directly on something gives you that thing’s menu instead: code blocks, file chips, links, and any run of text you have selected each answer with their own actions.
Keeping a note where you put it
Glue to Desktop pins the note to the desktop layer so it never covers your work. Float on Top does the opposite: the note stays above every window. Show on All Desktops makes it follow you across Spaces.
